Those seeking an escape from large crowds and the fast pace of life can always find refuge on our magical coast. There are countless ways to refresh and recharge here, whether you’re here to watch majestic Pacific Ocean waves crash into rugged cliffs, ride along awe-inspiring Oregon Dunes, take a peaceful walk along our undeveloped beaches, embark on an invigorating hike through miles of dense coastal forests or simply go fishing, crabbing or clamming. No wonder our official slogan is “Where the Soul Meets the Sea”!

Sadly, if one is not careful, what should be a peaceful day by the sea could suddenly turn deadly without warning. Now that spring is upon us, it’s more important than ever to remind our visitors to avoid potential dangers by following some common-sense guidelines to keep you and your family safe and to preserve our wildlife and outdoor spaces on Oregon’s Adventure Coast so others may enjoy them too. Travel Oregon has launched a new campaign, Take Care Out There , to help promote responsible recreation in Oregon and ensure outdoor opportunities for health, connection and joy for generations to come. Watch how Travel Oregon encourages visitors to stay safe by following these simple rules: Prepare. Care. Connect.

“Be Wave Safe”

The National Weather Service has also issued a series of “Wave Safe” educational resources and videos like the one below to keep people and their pets “Wave Safe” on Oregon’s beaches.

In addition to these guidelines, most state parks and public beaches will post rules and regulations that are very important to follow. We want you to enjoy the natural treasures throughout Oregon’s Adventure Coast, but more importantly, we want you to stay safe. And remember “Never turn your back on the ocean.”
