Oregon’s Adventure Coast Proudly Hosts 2025 OSAA 3A State Basketball Championships a.k.a. #3ACoosBay

Oregon’s Adventure Coast: Coos Bay, North Bend, Charleston was proud to once again welcome hundreds of athletes, coaches, educators, families, and high school basketball fans for the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) 3A State Basketball Championships, March 6 - 8, 2025. Teams from sixteen schools, supported by dedicated coaching staff and enthusiastic fans from across the state, filled our communities for an unforgettable weekend of basketball excitement!

Coos Bay, North Bend, and Charleston have proudly hosted this premier basketball tournament since 2012, with Marshfield and North Bend High Schools serving as tournament venues.

“Hosting the OSAA 3A Boys and Girls State Basketball Championships for the past 14 years has truly been an honor,” says Janice Langlinais, Executive Director of the Coos Bay-North Bend-Charleston Visitor & Convention Bureau. “Our community eagerly welcomes these talented athletes, dedicated coaches, and their families, investing weeks of preparation to ensure a memorable experience. We sincerely hope our visitors enjoy meaningful connections and unforgettable moments exploring Oregon’s Adventure Coast: Coos Bay, North Bend, Charleston.”

This year’s championships delivered intense competition, outstanding athletic performances, and memorable community moments as Oregon’s top 3A teams battled through exciting matchups that fired up fans of each school.

A memorable highlight from this year’s tournament occurred when past champions—the legendary Powers boys' 1974 squad and Myrtle Point girls' 2003 team—were honored at halftime, celebrating their enduring legacies and enriching the event with local pride and tradition. Boys Tournament Highlights

​This year’s Boys Basketball Championships highlighted outstanding talent and fierce competition among Oregon’s top high school teams, concluding with Westside Christian capturing the state title after a decisive 65-47 victory over Pleasant Hill. ​Read the story here.

Quarterfinals (March 6):

  • Westside Christian vs. Banks: Top-seeded Westside Christian demonstrated their dominance with a convincing 62-47 victory over Banks.​
  • Oregon Episcopal vs. De La Salle North Catholic: In a closely contested match, Oregon Episcopal edged out De La Salle North Catholic with a 52-47 win.​ Read the story here.
  • Valley Catholic vs. Cascade Christian: Valley Catholic secured their semifinal spot by defeating Cascade Christian 55-43.​Read the story here.
  • Pleasant Hill vs. Creswell: Pleasant Hill showcased its prowess with a 61-47 victory over Creswell.​ Read the story here.

Semifinals (March 7):

  • Westside Christian vs. Oregon Episcopal: Westside Christian orchestrated a remarkable comeback, overturning a 15-point halftime deficit to win 59-54. Key performances included Roahn Reid’s 23 points and Cole Chiong’s double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. ​Read the story here.
  • Pleasant Hill vs. Valley Catholic: Pleasant Hill rallied from a 13-point deficit to triumph over Valley Catholic 46-42, propelled by Gavin Inglish’s standout 23-point performance. ​Read the story here.

Championship Game (March 8):

  • Westside Christian vs. Pleasant Hill: Westside Christian secured the state championship with a decisive 65-47 win over Pleasant Hill, capping off their impressive tournament run. ​Read the story here.

Consolation Bracket:

  • De La Salle North Catholic vs. Cascade Christian: De La Salle North Catholic claimed a narrow 43-40 victory over Cascade Christian, securing the 4th place spot. ​Read the story here.

Girls Tournament Highlights

This year’s Girls State Basketball Championship culminated in an intense showdown between Amity High School and Banks High School, delivering a championship game that kept fans on the edge of their seats. In a thrilling finish, Amity High School clinched their first-ever girls' basketball state title, narrowly defeating Banks with a final score of 43-41. ​Read the story here.

  • Amity vs. Coquille: Top-seeded Amity demonstrated their dominance with a convincing 60-27 victory over Coquille. ​Read the story here.
  • Jefferson vs. Cascade Christian: In a competitive matchup, Jefferson emerged victorious against Cascade Christian with a score of 44-34. ​Read the story here.
  • Vale vs. Burns: Vale secured their spot in the semifinals by defeating Burns 66-52. ​Read the story here.
  • Banks vs. Taft: Banks advanced with a solid performance, winning 55-36 over Taft. ​

Semifinals (March 7):

  • Amity vs. Jefferson: Amity continued their impressive run with a 52-43 victory over Jefferson, earning their place in the championship game. ​Read the story here.
  • Banks vs. Vale: In a closely contested game, Banks edged out Vale with a narrow 33-30 win to advance to the finals. ​

Championship Game (March 8):

  • Amity vs. Banks: The final was a nail-biter, with Amity holding off a late surge from Banks to clinch the championship with a 43-41 victory. ​Read the story here.

Third-Place Game (March 8):

  • Vale vs. Jefferson: Vale secured third place by defeating Jefferson 56-49. ​

  • Cascade Christian vs. Coquille: Cascade Christian claimed a 63-41 victory over Coquille. ​Read the story here.

A Community Affair

Oregon’s Adventure Coast is renowned for consistently delivering a “VIP” experience for its tournament visitors by hanging welcome signs in businesses throughout the area. Each team is assigned a local “greeter” to assist during the event, along with a meal for the team during the tournament. The community also hosts an annual dinner for the coaches and a separate meal for all players on the eve of the tournament, followed by a 3-point shootout at North Bend High School.
