Claw Your Way to Victory in our "Claw-some" Crab Cake Bake-Off!

Have you heard the news? Oregon’s Adventure Coast: Coos Bay, North Bend, Charleston is hosting its first-ever “Claw-some” Crab Cake Bake-Off ! This competition is open to beginner bakers and professionals alike, so anyone can get involved. The winner of each category - Amateur and Professional - will receive a Two-Night stay on Oregon’s Adventure Coast: Coos Bay, North Bend, Charleston, with lodging, activities and delicious dining options! Please note that transportation to and within the destination is not included.

All you have to do is exhibit your baking prowess by crafting a crab-inspired cake and documenting the process as well as the finished product, along with photos, video, and a brief description of the process that includes a list of your ingredients and the inspiration for your crustacean creation. 

Here’s what you need to know.

• This is a cake-baking competition, so we are looking for bakery items, NOT a crab dish. These could be cupcakes, as well as any size cake.

• The contest is free to enter and can be done from your home or work kitchen.

• Physical cakes will not be submitted for this contest.

• Bakers must submit a short video and photos of their cake-making process, as well as the finished product. Entries must include a video of someone cutting and taking a bite of the cake to ensure it is an edible item.

• Bakers will also need to submit a brief description of the ingredients and inspiration. Don’t forget to give your cake a catchy name to make it stand out!

• Presentation is one of the most critical factors in the competition. Be creative with your presentation and find unique ways to present your cake.

• There is an amateur and a professional category, so both inexperienced and experienced bakers are eligible to enter.

• There are four categories you can enter:

  • Amateur Kids ages 10-17. Requires Parent/Guardian Approval
  • Amateur Adults ages 18 and up
  • Baking Professionals in training (such as those in culinary school)
  • Baking Professionals on the job (those working professionally in a bakery, restaurant, school or other facility)

• Contestants may work individually or with a team. (Prizes will be awarded to 1 member per team only, NOT each individual.)

• To be eligible for entry, all contestants must click on this link to submit the required information, as well as photos/videos and ingredients list, no later than June 30, 2023.

• Winners will be announced in July 2023, and prizes will be distributed shortly thereafter. Winners will have one year in which to take their trip to Oregon’s Adventure Coast.

• Cakes will be judged by creativity, ability to incorporate the theme, crab imagery and coastal style.

Don’t forget, one lucky winner from each major category will receive a complimentary two-night stay on Oregon’s Adventure Coast: Coos Bay, North Bend, Charleston, with lodging, activities and some delicious dining options. Not to mention, bragging rights as Oregon’s Adventure Coast’s best crab cake baker! Second & Third Place winners in each category will receive a goodie basket of Oregon’s Adventure Coast products.
