We’re not gonna lie. If you have not had a chance to view a dramatic winter storm from a safe distance on Oregon’s Adventure Coast: Coos Bay, North Bend, Charleston- you don’t know what you’re missing! This winter storm watching season, so far, has been nothing short of SPECTACULAR.

If you’re worried about missing out on the action, don’t worry! With more off shore storms in the forecast, we’re confident Mother Nature isn’t finished just yet! Also, a select group of properties is offering a 15% discount for Storm Watchers through the end of March 2021.

We have had more storm watching opportunities this winter than we’ve seen in a long time. Fortunately, many Oregon Coast visitors were kind enough to share their photos from this season. We even had a surprise celebrity guest show up wearing mittens- take a look!

Here are some #stormwatching facts

  • The best viewing times tend to be November through March.
  • Stormwatching has more to do with the ocean conditions rather than the actual weather conditions.
  • When conditions in the ocean create enormous swells, they translate into impressive wave action. A 15 – 20 foot swell will turn into a wave over 100 feet high!
  • Shore Acres State Park is often lauded as the foremost storm-watching spot on the entire Oregon Coast. Perched on top of an 80-foot cliff, this location allows for a safe distance above the waves while experiencing fantastic views.
  • The bluffs overlooking Bastendorff Beach, Cape Arago State Park, and Sunset Bay State Park also offer vantage points from a safer distance.
