Don’t Miss the 13th Annual Charleston “Ahh Shucks!” Oyster Feed Saturday, April 28th!

It’s a fact: Oregonians love oysters, so it’s no wonder the annual Charleston “Ahh Shucks!” Oyster Feed is one of the most anticipated food events of the year! Here in Charleston, Oregon, oyster lovers gather every year to celebrate tender, tempting, tasty, fresh Coos Bay oysters with a feast like no other.

Mark your calendars: The 13th annual Charleston “Ahh Shucks!” Oyster Feed is happening Saturday, April 28th at Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (OIMB) Dining Hall. Meals will feature succulent oysters provided by local growers, including Clausen Oyster Co., Coos Bay Oyster Co., North Bend Oyster Co., Qualman Oyster Farms and Pacific Seafoods - Charleston. Oysters will be prepared fried, sauteed, or steamed and served with dipping sauces, baked beans, coleslaw, garlic bread and a choice of beverages.

The event will also include live music, Oregon wines, desserts provided Charleston Fishing Families Inc. and a fund-raising raffle featuring many gift certificates and prizes donated by local merchants.The celebration is from 12 noon to 4 p.m., at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (OIMB) Dining Hall. This annual event runs in conjunction with Oregon Oyster Week and is hosted by the Charleston Community Enhancement Corporation.

Not a fan of oysters? No worries. There will be a gourmet hot dog meal for non-oyster fans, costing $8 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under, along with shrimp cocktails for only $2. Quality pink shrimp for shrimp cocktails are donated by Hallmark Fisheries and the Oregon Trawl Commission.

There is simply no better way to celebrate Oregon’s Bounty!

Cost ranges from $12 for 3 oysters, $14 for 6, and $16 for 9.

While you are visiting, take a stroll through the Charleston Marina to take in relaxing sites. Whether it’s kayaking or hiking the South Slough Estuary Reserve, walking along Sunset Beach and Shore Acres State Parks, crabbing or clamming in the Charleston Marina, shopping and dining at Charleston merchants or learning about marine life at the Charleston Marine Life Center, we’ve got it all. The friendly residents and merchants of Charleston will do everything possible to make your visit memorable and fun!

About the Charleston Community Enhancement Corp.

The Charleston Community Enhancement Corp. is a nonprofit group dedicated to improving the Charleston community for the benefit of visitors and residents. All proceeds from the Oyster Feed will help support the group’s many community projects, including support of the Charleston Food Pantry, and many beautification and functional projects enhancing Charleston.
