Length: 1.75 miles (round trip)
Information courtesy of Coos Trails. Trail is appropriate for hikers and equestrians.
From Coos Bay, drive south on US 101 for about 23 miles to Bullards Beach State Park. Turn right (west) at park entrance. Continue on main road out to Bullards Beach Horse Camping area sign and turn right (north) into camping area where trailhead is located.
This trail takes you to the historic Coquille River Lighthouse, at the mouth of the Coquille River. Tours of the lighthouse are available. Across the river is the picturesque town of Bandon. You can also walk right (north) to the beach with brilliant views of the Oregon coastline. Bullards Beach State Park has a wide diversity of camping opportunities for horses, hikers/bikers, RVs, and also provides yurts.
Starting through an open flat grassy area, the trail parallels the road out to the Coquille River Lighthouse. To the left are wetlands, currently being expanded by the Port of Bandon. This is a popular trail for equestrians. Upon reaching the beach it’s possible to walk for several miles along the coast.
