Throughout the year, Oregon’s Adventure Coast offers great opportunities for fishing, clamming and crabbing; so it’s not surprising that kayak fishing is growing in popularity among locals and visitors. So where’s the local favorite kayak fishing spot? Our very own Sunset Bay State Park.
Known for its towering sea cliffs, beautiful sandy beaches, amazing tide pools, picnic facilities, and campgrounds, Sunset Bay State Park gives ocean lovers easy access to it’s beaches, making ideal for kayakers. Visitors and locals frequent the park for a relaxing day of beach combing, birding, fishing, swimming, and boating.
Flanked by offshore rocks, Sunset Bay’s calm waters are ideal for folks of all experience levels to get some good fishing out on kayak. Though Sunset Bay is hardly a secret to locals, you’re bound to find peace and quiet out on the water… or some massive Lingcod as Magic_Merz did:
This handy map below, provided by Yak Angler, shows some of the best spots in Sunset Bay. Green areas on the map denote the places with the best fishing, whereas the red sections indicate protected tidal zones to be avoided. Print this for your reference!
