Egyptian Theatre Grand Reopening
Friday, June 20, 2014- Sunday June 22, 2014
S. Broadway (Hwy 101)

Since its grand opening in 1925, the historic Egyptian Theatre in downtown Coos Bay has been one of our most recognizable and beloved landmarks on the Oregon Coast. The original theatre was converted from a garage into an elegant 1,240 seat silent movie and vaudeville house featuring a dazzling state-of-the-art Wurlitzer Theater Organ.

Through the decades, the Egyptian Theatre has served our community as a major entertainment venue, with movies and performances until it closed suddenly in 2005. The non-profit Egyptian Theatre Preservation Association was formed by a group of concerned citizens who believed that the theatre was too important a part of our history to be lost.

After the theatre was purchased by the City of Coos Bay Urban Renewal Agency in 2006, dedicated volunteers worked countless hours to successfully operate and begin restoring the Egyptian for the benefit of our community. In 2011 the theatre was closed for structural repairs and renovation. Now after a very successful fundraising effort supported through local donations and foundations from around our state, renovations are nearing completion and this west coast icon, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is about to be re-opened.

Thanks to their efforts, this historic Oregon Coast icon has been restored to its former glory and will celebrate the grand re-opening the weekend of June 20-22, 2014!  The Grand Reopening Weekend schedule is as follows:
