Charleston Seafood Festival

26th Annual Oregon Shorebird Festival
August 24-26, 2012
The Oregon Shorebird Festival’s 26th year will include a full weekend of activities planned for birders of all skill levels. The festival is headquartered at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology in Charleston, OR. Activities include expertly guided land based field trips to Bandon Marsh National Wildlife Refuge, New River and the Coos Bay area. There is a pelagic trip on Saturday for those who want to experience birding on the water.
Blackberry Arts Festival
August 25-26, 2012
The 2012 Blackberry Arts Festival will be held in downtown Coos Bay August 25 and 26. The festival location will be back on Central Avenue from Hwy 101 west to 5th street. Thousands of people fill the downtown area to seek out all things blackberry. From jams and jellies to baked goods, candy and wine, it’s all about the blackberry. The festival is a host to many artisans with their handmade arts and goods. The Festival event is sure to please all who visit and those who want to be a vendor
9th Annual Mill Luck Salmon Celebration
September 8 & 9, 2012
The 2012 Mill-Luck Salmon Celebration will take place at The Mill Casino and features canoe races, a traditional salmon bake dinner, cultural exhibits and demonstrations, a Native American marketplace, children’s activities and two concerts with Academy Award winning songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie. The outside activities are free and open to the public, tickets to the Salmon Dinner and Sainte-Marie concerts can be purchased at Ko-Kwel Gifts inside The Mill Casino.
Bay Area Fun Festival

Enjoy the sights, sounds and tastes of the Mall Market throughout Fun Festival weekend! Hundreds of vendors are ready to make your weekend the best ever with arts, crafts,music, food and fun! The Bay Area Rotary Club is pleased to organize the Bay Area Fun Festival Parade, one of the largest on the Oregon coast. This year, the parade will feature floats with the “Party On The Half Shell” theme.
The Cruz the Coos and Shore Acres Show n’ Shine
Join in the fun of the annual Cruz The Coos vintage car cruise in Coos Bay! More than 500 participants show off their restored vehicles all while K-DOCK Classic Hits Radio provides Good Time Rock and Roll at 92.9 FM. Listen in to the fun broadcast featuring interviews with drivers as community leaders pick out their favorites! The 27th annual Cruz the Coos is held in downtown Coos Bay, OR. The Shore Acres Show n’ Shine is held inside Shore Acres State Park. Just a short 10 minute drive from Coos Bay, OR just south of Charleston. Bring the whole family and check out all the great cars for both events.
32nd Annual Prefontaine Memorial Run

Now in its 33rd year, the popular run got its start when a group of Coos Bay citizens decided it was time that Steve Prefontaine’s hometown did something to honor its favorite son. Join a thousand other runners and follow the same route that Olympic Runner Prefontaine would train on. The run happens Saturday morning during the Bay Area Fun Festival!
